Position: ERT Captain
Location: Goulamina
Reporting Relationship: Health and Safety Manager
Position Purpose:
As the Emergency Response Team Captain, you will play a crucial role in leading our emergency response team. Your responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and coordinating all aspects of emergency preparedness and response. We are seeking an individual with a strong commitment to safety, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Primary Areas of Responsibility:
- Promote a continuous improvement approach to emergency response.
- Manage the communication process for matters related to emergency response.
- Ensure site compliance with the emergency and medical management plan.
- Ensure site compliance with relevant legislation.
- Provide expert advice to the Safety Manager on ERT matters when required.
- Train ERT members in all aspects of ERT operations in accordance with the site crisis management plan and develop emergency response procedures and training materials.
- Ensure and monitor site Emergency Response Team exercises/activities.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to all Mine site Emergencies.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., emergency management, safety, or related).
- Certification in emergency response, incident command, or a similar field is preferred.
- Proven experience in emergency response and management, with a minimum of 10 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of local and national emergency response regulations and guidelines.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging and high-stress environments.
- Willingness to be on-call and respond to emergencies as required.
