Duties
This position is the working team leader of the Generator Technicians in the Facilities (FAC) Section of US Embassy Bamako. S/He provides work guidance to a group of four Generator Technicians and other workers who may be assigned to assist when required by the workload. Performs installations, operations, maintenance and repairs of diesel engines and generators on the embassy compound and in the residential housing properties.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Completion of high school, or host-nation equivalent, is required. Vocational education or certified apprenticeship program leading to a journeyman skill or equivalent is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Position requires a comprehensive knowledge of power generating equipment, electrical systems, engine control systems, multi-fuel driven combustion engines, trouble-shooting techniques and strategies, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical components, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the workplace.
Education Requirements:

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
English: Basic Knowledge of English – Able to use greetings, ask questions and give simple directions. Can form basic sentences and express basic thoughts.
This may be tested.
French or Bambara: Good Working Knowledge – Good vocabulary and understanding of grammar and able to construct sentences. Able to use French or Bambara as part of normal work duties including having conversations with customers and answer questions.
This may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have the ability to oversee and guide other workers, provide equitable work assignments, assess strengths and weaknesses of workers to recommend additional training. Requires a valid driver’s license for at least 5 years.
