About us
We are building the next large scale global lithium hard rock project in southern Mali and developing a world class Goulamina project. Goulamina is a one of three hard rock projects of scale globally with 100% spodumene concentrate offtake currently available and will be West Africa’s first lithium mine. It will come online in 2024 to supply the booming lithium-ion battery industry.

We are seeking an experienced Mine Production Superintendent to join us on this exciting journey.
The Mine Production Superintendent is responsible for ensuring all operational functions and activities of the mine site are planned and achieved in a safe and efficient manner.
Reporting to the Mining Manager you will be responsible for the following:
Develop, lead and mentor a team approach with shared objectives and strategy
Maintain a safe working environment
Guide the contract mining operations to safe production while meeting key performance metrics of the project
Provide clarity, guidance and consistency to the open pit operations by setting clear and achievable objectives within the specific budget parameters and Corporate plans
Liaison across departments in generating ideas for improvement and sharing/resolving of issues common to mine production
Manage all technical and commercial aspects of the open pit operations by monitoring and addressing achievement against planned goals and objectives
Manage and support the performance management processes for the open pit operations to ensure performance objectives are met
Oversee cost effectiveness of contractors and business partners by actively seeking financial improvements and allocation of resources to achieve production targets
Control open pit operations activities by approving plans and reviewing and reporting against benchmarks and actively aligning plans when required
Ensure open pit operations’ support requirements are understood and met by communicating them to the appropriate line manager within support areas, and following up on actions
Provide leadership, direction and coaching for the direct reports and wider mining operations teams
Attend Mining crew, Mobile Plant and Fixed Plant safety toolbox meetings
Attend and participate in daily Production (Foreman) meetings to review previous 24 hours’ performance
Participate in Mining Crew pre-shift muster meetings
Participate in LMSA leadership meetings
Conduct statutory and planned inspections, task, and behaviour observations in line with legislative and company requirements
Ensure familiarity with Emergency and Crisis Management Plan, participate in “On call After Hours Duty” roster, and ensure Mining department personnel understand emergency response procedures
Ensure all contractors have a clear scope of work and Contractor Management procedures are followed
Communicate mining priorities to mine geology personnel, drill and blast personnel to ensure minimum delays to mining contractors planned activities
Ensure electrical and pumping plans are in place and understood by Mine Foremen, Fixed Plant Foremen, and other personnel.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Job Classification: According to the Collective Agreement of Companies and Enterprises
Geological and Hydrogeological Mining in the Republic of Mali in force
Duty Station: Goulamina
Date of entry into service: as soon as possible following the end of the publication of this vacancy announcement
Nature of the contract: CDI aka open-ended contract
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Have at least a Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent
Have a professional experience of at least 5+ years in a leadership role with experience training, coaching and mentoring to all levels within the organisation
KEY COMPETENCIES :
A proven background, driving production across complex open cut mining methods and operations
Exposure to the various stages of mining operations, including drill & blast, mine services and infrastructure, production and scheduling
Strong English oral and written skills are essential
Bilingual (English and French) abilities will be highly regarded
Holder of an Unrestricted Quarry Manager certification or equivalent is essential
Well-developed interpersonal, communication, presentation, literacy, numeracy and analytical skills
High attention to detail
Ability to work autonomously with excellent time management skills
Business acumen gained within an operational mining environment
Functional knowledge of world class Work Health and Safety Mining Regulations
Self-motivated, highly organised, a proven leader and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment
Project management experience
High level planning and organisational skills
Effective leadership, team building and coaching skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Remote supervision and management skills with the ability to delegate effectively and prioritise, building teams and coaching for success.
Strong English oral and written skills is a must with bilingual (English and French) capabilities highly regarded.
