Duties

Position leads a group of five electricians in the facilities management section (FAC), to ensure that the electrical systems in all USG leased or owned housing units are safe and reliable.  Interacts with GSO Housing as applicable, to refer major electrical repairs to the landlord and performs electrical make-ready tasks during changeovers of occupancy.  Performs electrical safety inspections on residences prior to final leasing actions.


Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experiences in the operations and maintenance of electrical repairs in a residential, industrial or commercial environment is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must be able to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematic diagrams, single-line diagrams and have a good working knowledge of electrical and mechanical code books.  Must be thoroughly familiar with electrical hazards and apply appropriate safety counter-measures.  Must be able to adequately plan and be flexible enough to modify plans to address unexpected or unforeseen conditions.


Education Requirements:

Completion of high school (or host nation equivalent) is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:

English: Limited Knowledge of English – Reasonable confident in speaking English and able to handle social situations and casual conversation and limited work requirements. Able to write simple texts and fill out forms.


This may be tested.


French or Bambara: Good Working Knowledge – Good vocabulary and understanding of grammar and able to construct sentences. Able to use French or Bambara as part of normal work duties including having conversations with customers and answer questions.


This may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Must be able to use the tools of the trade, power equipment such as threaders, conduit benders, drills; must be able to work at elevated heights or from an aerial work platform.  Must be able to use electrical testing equipment such as ohmmeters, meg-ohm meters, and other electrical component testing equipment. Must have held a driver’s license for at least 5 years and able to drive a motor vehicle. Must be able to use the keyboard.
